Super Bowl Sunday. My phone in hand, its light infusing my freshly washed face with brightness. I am currently wearing a too big for me bathrobe I originally bought my mom as gift a while back. It was actually not big enough for her. With whitening strips on my teeth that taste like expired toothpaste and hair that scream I don't plan to move a muscle until it's actually Monday. My laptop rests on my lap as if waiting for me dive in on the never ending cyberspace to look for the quick and cheap but often functional wonders of social media and stuff. Little does it know that I'll be using it to binge on Netflix and then neglect it without remorse for a few days.
But anyhow. Here I am. Alone. On Super Bowl Sunday. A day when Americans are set to eat over 1 billion chicken wings or at least that's what I read on times.com. That is as much as I've read on anything to do with this Super Bowl Weekend or anything relating football as a matter of fact.
Regardless of my lack of knowledge or any significant attempt to know about this game I must admit that it's weird spending this awaited weekend alone. Well, my day didn't start alone but due to sucky current circumstances I couldn't go watch the game. Regardless the fact that I could live a very undisturbed life without football I do love getting together with everyone and happen to appreciate die hard sports fans. I enjoy the millisecond I feel to belong with the rest of the world while we sit together, munch on delicious less than wholesome treats and watch the game, commercials and may I mention the dearly beloved half time show.
I particularly enjoy to hear everyone's comments about whomever the performer happens to be, facts about the players that I'd never go on and find about for myself and of course people's responses to the commercials. Media has us all and I love to people watch while these new, funny and sometimes controversial commercials air on the living room big screen.
Anyhow, back to...I'm alone. Not even sure if I'll be joining the 117 million viewers expected to surpass last year's over 114 million that sat, drank and bonded over the event. I was part of that 114 million that watched last year by the way. And the year before when the Seahawks beat the Denver Broncos by 35 points I watched too. I mean, I was in the room where actual fans were watching and I cheered when everyone did. That was awesome dude! Right? I don't know what just happened. I believe that broke a record or something like that. Don't believe me, I know little about this stuff. I remember the only record I was concerned about was the record that whomever made the green and blue shots broke with those ridiculously good shots. Oh my! Those were so good!
Anyway, this year I hear the Carolina Panthers and the Denver Broncos are up against each other? I hope it's an entertaining game for everyone that's watching. Especially those who slaved to host cute parties for friends and family. See, that's the part I love. The people! I'm a sucker for togetherness, especially those that seem to always involve a good drink and much food.
In the mean time I'll be sharing take out with myself and watching all the movies and shows my partner in crime and best friend would call too 'estrogen filled' for his enjoyment. Hopefully I will also find some motivation to plan ahead for the week and be a responsible adult. I always wanted to be one. But knowing myself I'll put up enough arguments to relax until the rest of the world enjoying Super Bowl Sunday parties are suffering the Sunday night blues. Thank god I work from home... May the team with the cutest players win. After all I'll be seeing the champions faces plastered all over the place for quite a while after tonight.
Have a good one loves,
